Hi! I’m Riah,

Get to know the Artist!

Growing up I’ve always been fascinated with art and creativity. It’s a feeling, a flow that you can’t really express in words but becomes expressed in the process and sometimes the finished artwork. As someone with a fast paced mind, overthinking everything, always 20 steps ahead and unable to sit still without zoning out or day dreaming. You will often find me doodling or putting together some kind of puzzle while in conversation or listening to something; I’ll even create strange little structures with the garbage you left out if I have no other option, lol. But just know I am paying close attention, if I wasn’t doing anything, I wouldn’t understand a word.

Why LaDawn_Drawn?

Well here’s a little backstory, my name is actually Mariah. hence my signature being MLE instead of RLE. When I was born, my brother couldn’t say my name and called me Riah. The name Riah stuck, everyone referred to me as Riah from then on. All throughout school that is what I wrote on my homework.

I know I know, confusing right? My name is Riah, my signature is MLE, and my business name is LaDawn_Drawn or L.D.Designs? Am I trying to be indecisive?

I know what you’re thinking ‘Ok, but what about LaDawn_Drawn?’

After my great grandma Laverne and my grandma Donna was created the unique name, LaDawn, my middle name. Both of them were art enthusiasts, always creative, always working on a project; and that creativity passed down through generations. Being named after 2 influencial artists in my life, I couldn’t think of another brand name that would fit better and mean so much.

As for L.D. Designs, as a business owner but also a creative I wanted to make a brand name that gave me the space to grow and experiment. So that I wouldn’t be confined to 2d hand drawn artworks but also poster, graphics, apparel, or crafts that I might want to showcase as well. I felt L.D. Designs or LaDawn Drawn Designs would be a perfect fit.
